Metropoli Meda, Rizzatto and Sarfatti took a second look at ceiling lamps, as neglected as they are widespread, in search of an intelligent, elegant solution. Adopting a sober approach, they opted for a die-cast aluminium frame containing an easily assembled and inspectable diffuser. Modular, impermeable, designed to hold various light sources, the Metropoli system received the Compasso d'Oro award in 1994.

This die-cast aluminium lamp with a diffuser made of prismatic glass or opal polycarbonate (available only for fluorescent version), provides a pleasant continuity of form between the interior and exterior of constructions.

Lamping choices 3 X 100W 120V E26 (medium base) A19 incandescent lamp; 3 X 26W 120V G24d-3 based compact fluorescent lamps, magnetic ballast; 1 X 22W FC9T5 and 1 X 40W FC12T5 circline fluorescent lamps, electronic ballast; or 3 X 26W G24q3 based compact fluorescent lamps, electronic ballast. Lamps are not included with Metropoli fixtures.
